Vladivostok is one of the most interesting and colorful cities in Russia. The city is spread around mountains and its buildings climb the steep hillsides which drop into the picturesque sea. The surrounding water, deeply and intricately carving the land, makes Vladivostok unforgettable. Vladivostok occupies the southern tip of the Muravyov-Amursky peninsula. The downtown area is situated at the shores of the Goldern Horn Bay. There are no straight streets, they all are lost between the hills that compose the main city landscape. And of course, it make life difficult for all the city dwellers.
But the city was being constructed during those times when architects were not tied by standards, norms, ISO, special instructions, and rulings of the Central Committee. And that's why old cities are so different. If you ask an old inhabitant where the city begins and what he means by the word Vladivostok, his answer is sure to be of the old city. And that's it! The rest is dictated by somebody. And you know, this city has been through so much, this old city, and it's still living, and I believe it's got a great future to follow!
